The formula
How to convert ZAR to SEK
Turning South African Rand into Swedish Kronor needs nothing more than today's rate and a multiplication. On 18 August 2026 that rate is 0.586575, so:
SEK = ZAR × 0.586575
Going the other way, divide instead of multiply — or multiply by 1.7048, which amounts to the same thing: one Swedish Krona buys 1.7048 South African Rand.
The converter at the top of this page does both directions and updates as you type. Every result is recalculated on the server as well, so the number you see is the number that gets stored.
About the South African Rand and the Swedish Krona
The South African Rand (ZAR, symbol R) is the currency of South Africa. The Swedish Krona (SEK, symbol kr) is the currency of Sweden.
Like any pair, the rate reflects what traders will pay at that moment, not a fixed value. Everything on this page is a mid-market rate. Retail providers quote a spread around it and keep the difference.

A price tag. Something marked R50 comes to 29.3288 SEK. Round to 29 SEK for a quick mental check while you are standing in the shop.
A monthly salary. R3,000 a month is 1759.73 SEK — useful when you are comparing a job offer across the two markets. Bear in mind the rate moves, so a figure agreed today will not be the figure paid out in six months.
Going the other way. If you are holding kr1,000 and want to know what it buys in South African Rand, that is 1704.81 ZAR. The converter handles both directions — use the swap button between the two fields.
Watch the margin. At a bureau charging 3%, your R500 would fetch roughly 284.49 SEK instead of 293.29 SEK. That gap is what the mid-market rate on this page lets you spot.

Almost certainly not. What you see here is the mid-market rate, the midpoint of the market. Every retail provider takes a cut on top of it. The value of knowing the mid-market figure is being able to measure that cut.
