How to convert CAD to CNY
There is only one number you need to convert CAD to CNY: the rate the market is quoting. On 18 August 2026 that rate is 4.8622, so:
CNY = CAD × 4.8622
Backwards works identically — divide by 4.8622, or multiply by 0.20567. One Chinese Yuan comes to 0.20567 Canadian Dollars.
The converter at the top of this page does both directions and updates as you type. Every result is recalculated on the server as well, so the number you see is the number that gets stored.
About the Canadian Dollar and the Chinese Yuan
The Canadian Dollar (CAD, symbol C$) is the currency of Canada. The Chinese Yuan (CNY, symbol ¥) is the currency of China.
The rate is set by continuous trading, which is why it rarely reads the same two days running. What you see is the market midpoint, updated once a day. A bank or bureau will quote something a little worse.
Worked CAD to CNY examples
A price tag. Something marked C$50 comes to 243.11 CNY. Round to 243 CNY for a quick mental check while you are standing in the shop.
A monthly salary. C$3,000 a month is 14586.49 CNY — useful when you are comparing a job offer across the two markets. Bear in mind the rate moves, so a figure agreed today will not be the figure paid out in six months.
Going the other way. If you are holding ¥1,000 and want to know what it buys in Canadian Dollars, that is 205.67 CAD. The converter handles both directions — use the swap button between the two fields.
Watch the margin. At a bureau charging 3%, your C$500 would fetch roughly 2358.15 CNY instead of 2431.08 CNY. That gap is what the mid-market rate on this page lets you spot.
As of 18 August 2026, 4.8622 Chinese Yuan buys what one Canadian Dollar does. That figure is pulled from a public reference feed once a day.
At today's rate, 100 Canadian Dollars come to 486.2163 CNY. The converter handles any amount, in either direction.
No — treat it as the reference point, not the offer. Exchange desks quote a spread around the mid-market rate and keep the difference. Comparing their quote with the figure above tells you what the convenience is costing you.
